JUST COMPLETED: Adult Cardiology Department Waiting Room
Without a doubt, our mood and thoughts are affected by what surrounds us. Colors, textures, and light quality all contribute to our feelings of positivity and negativity. They can even affect how quickly our bodies and minds heal from sickness or trauma.
We had an opportunity to design and select art for certain areas in the adult cardiology department of a Boston area hospital where extra care and sensitivity was especially needed. Patients often spend many weeks and months in the halls and sitting areas waiting for heart transplants. Here are a few pictures from the spaces...

TREASURES: Back from Brimfield
Three times a year, in good weather and bad, antiques enthusiasts and dealers from every corner of the world flock to Brimfield in Western Massachusetts for the largest outdoor antiques show in the States. Each show lasts for five days and fine antiques to just old stuff abound. Literally, thousands of buyers and sellers convene in the little town and thousands upon thousands of goods go to new owners.
This May, Tica visited the Brimfield Antiques Show for a couple of days and brought back some pieces for clients…and some for herself! Here’s some of what she hauled back to Boston :
Let’s start with the largest piece: A beautiful, Mission style, oak desk in near perfect condition. This desk features dovetail details and original hardware. The desk’s new owner is in love with it.
Next is this gorgeous Pembroke table. Pembroke tables are characterized by two central drawers opening on opposite sides and drop leaf flaps on either side of the drawers . Typically, Pembroke tables are for occasional use. This particular table has neither casters nor X-shaped stretchers as in original English Pembroke tables. It will, however, serve as a perfect little card table or extra dining table at a client’s home.
Finally, Tica couldn’t resist taking this little cabinet home. Just look at the carving on the door and it’s simple lock. Too cute!
Here it is in its new home.
Pretty much anything can be found at Brimfield. Here are some pieces that were interesting but, alas, could not be brought back…
The next show is July 9-14 and the last one of the year is September 3-8. Be sure to check it out. We will be there! For more information visit the Brimfield Antiques Show website: www.brimfieldshow.com
